THE MICHIGAN DAILY VARSITU SCORES 14-0 VICTORYOVER SCRUBS GOEBEL ON RECEIVING END 01F THREE FORWARD PASSES Consistent tackle gains coupled with three successful forward passes and as many long end runs resulted in a 14 to 0 victory for the Varsity over the scrubs Tuesday afternoon. Goebel's fine work in grabbing three long heaves was the most spectacular feature of the scrimmage. The first score came when Abe Cohn from the 3-yard line plunged through for a score. Wieman kicked goal. Following this, the ball re- mained in mid-fieldnfor some time, changing hands often. Goebel then reached up and snared a long one, running for the second touchdown. He also kicked the goal. Richards Shines The Varsity that Coach Yost used was not the. best available, although most of the men were first string. Richards, who played so well on the Dent team last fall, did well as Goe- bel's running mate. Goetz and Wie- man acquitted themselves well at the tackles. Wachter and Stipe were the guard choices, and although neither did anything startling, there was no apparent weakness in the center of the line. Johns -played center and performed well. Andrews worked at quarter, and his ability to run off tackle and around the end caused considerable favorable comment. Abe Cohn plung- ed through the line in his usual fiery manner, while Ed Usher and Nelson performed capably at the halves. Many Chaniges Made Yost made many changes in the course of the scrimmage, putting in an almost entirely new line before the fracas was over. Gilmore, Avery, Van Orden, and Petro were all given trials on the forward wall, while Wheeler and Curran, a new man with quite a record behind him, were sent into the backfield.
