To the Members of the University: The President of the University and Mrs. Burton will be at home on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month from Oct. 1 to May 1. The hours will be from 3:30 to 5:30 o'clock in the afternoon. Upon spe- _cial occasions, when announcement will be made, the hours will be ex- tended to the evening. All University clocks will be set back one hour at 2 a. m. Sunday, Oct. 31. University exercises on Sunday, Oct. 31, and thereafter will conform to central standard time, the present "railroad time," until further notice. SHIRLEY W. SMITH, Secretary of the University. College of Literature, Science, and the Arts: Students who were absent from examinations last June with excuse should take these examinations as arranged directly with the Instructors before Nov. 5. , Blanks for reporting grades should first be obtained from the Registrar's office. ARTHUR G. HALL, Registrar. College of Literature, Science, and the Arts: RULES RELATING TO ABSENCE 1. All absences should be explained to the Committee on Attendance within one week. Every absence not explained within two weeks will be marked unexcused. Absences pending adjustment for more than one week will be marked unexcused. 2. Each absence on the day immediately preceding or following a va- cation or holiday shall be counted as three. 3. Excessive absence shall render the student liable to a reduction in general credit for the semester. In addition to the foregoing, all students are required to explain every absence to the Instructor and to make up all missed work to the satisfac- tion Qf the Instructor. The Committee on Attendance will meet in the Registrar's office as follows: For men: Monday, 3:15 to 4:15; Wednesday, 11:15 to 12:15. For women: Monday and Thursday, 11:15 to 12:15. ARTHUR G. NOTICE: Automobile drivers are requested to observe the parking regulations as indicated by the notices along the University Hall drive. Failure to do so will mean seizure of car with payment of fine for release. The parking rules in this drive are as follows: There is to be no parking along the drive from North University to north line of Mason hall, in front.of the north entrance to University Hall, beyond the line of trees west of Fire Station or in north drive leading from the Fire Station. To relieve the present congestion at this place and to eliminate the disturbance of classes in buildings along this drive, owners hiaving no direct business at University Hall or vicinity are requested to park off of campus. E. C. PARDON, Superintendent. WOMEN GIVEN USE OF SWIMMING POOL Use of the city Y. M. C. A. swim- ming pool has been granted Univer- sity women with the provision that 100 girls sign up for swimming lessons. Money obtained from these lessons will be used for lockers, showers and a women's entrance. The pool is 60 by 25 feet and contains filtered run- ning water. It is in a sanitary con- dition, inspected and recommended by health authorities. Mr. C. 0. Nelson and his assistant will act as instruc- tors. Women are to have the daily use of the pool from 10:30 to 11:30 o'clock mornings, from 4:30 to 5:30 o'clock afternoons, and from 8:30 to 9:30 o'clock evenings. One lesson a week for six months will be $4.50 for mem- bers of the Women's Athletic asso- ciation and $5.00 for non-members. Girls will be required to have passed their regular physical examinations before being eligible. Those who want lessons may sign the list posted in Barbour gymnasium. C 4L L AR, DELTA TAU DELTA WINS FROM PHI DELTA THETA 21 TO 6 Delta Tau Delta defeated Phi Delta Theta yesterday 21 to 6 in the second of the interfraternity football con- tests. Delta Tau presented a formid- able team and their victory was largelydue to the long runs of Kirk, fullback, and Simmons, quarterback. Phi Delta Theta was represented by a heavy team but could not stop the opposing backs. Games for the remainder of the week are: Wednesday, 3:45-Trigon vs. Phi Kappa Sigma, Delta Chi vs. Sinfonia, Alpha Delta Phi vs. Psi Up- silon.
