Rather, they were just a bit dubious about their ability to land on the long end of the score and they certainly considered their opponents as being worthy and hard fighters. From the standpoint of Illinois athletic authori- ties, of the team and the student body this feeling is in no sense real andi lilinois is looking forward-as ex- p cl~e by Zupphe and members of this year's football team- to wiping oat. this so-called feeling at once. I1m? oulp lnent University The illini team will fight hard today but it -v ill fight cleanly and with Iproner respect for the Maize and Blue. Illinois worked out yesterday on x,"erry field both in the mnorning and a't;-ernoon. Incidentally, the Illini all >assed out compliments to Michigan on its football stadium. In fact, the 111ni were busy quite a part of the (lay complimenting Michigan on fnrst one thing and then another. The Michigan Union building took the eye of all the men. Being quar- ered there the team naturally enough spenit a good part of its spare time 0 i 'o However, they found things so c'omfortable that there was no expres- s')u of thme desire to move. Both the tamd as a whole and the accompany- 41grooters raisedl the wish that Illi- ncris light some day rate a similar bouildling. Defiler Likes Union Captain John Depler's remark about the Michigan campus might be taken as the expression of the entire team. On the way to the flield yesterday aft- ernoon Johnny said, "I'll sure hand it to M\ichigan for its Union building. I'll hand it to her for a good football field. I'll further say that she has sonic buildings which for their p~ur- pose probably have it on similar build- ings at Illinois. "But, I cannot give the Michigan campus a thing when you stack it up against our campus. The buildings are too close together, too grouped. I miss the room that we have." Illinois may return to Champaign tonight conquered or conquerors, but in any case they will return with the purpose of expressing to the student b~ody their appreciation of Michigan, both as a place where they turn out good, clean football teams, and also, as a place where there has been de- veloped a wonderful University.
