" r LYERINES MEET9ON 09 ~AROON6 TA l'rchigan-Chicago Track Meet Begins at 2:0 O'clock This Afternoon on Ferry Field FARRETJNS OUTFIT FAVORED ' TO 1(E DECISIVE WINERS For the first and only time this year the F Wolverine track team As to be seen in action on Ferry field when, with the wearers of the Maroon of the, University of Chicago, they answer the call of the clerk of course at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon. The fact that there seems but lit- te doubt as to the final outcome of the meet has not detracted one whit from the wide campus interest which is being taken in it, and it is expect- ed that every available seat will be taken long before the first event is called.a All But Three Firsts That AU chigan should win easily is generally conceded, for the Wolver- ines, if they run up to form, should take first places in all but three] events, with the possibility of sec-1 onds and thirds in these. The mile, two mile, and hammer throw are the events in which'the Maroons excel.I Even with Losch out of the sprints Michigan is expected to gain a victory in each, as Simmons is acknowledged one of the fastest in the Conference, and the absence of Forbes in the 440 does not rob the Wolverines of a sure first, for the, quarter is Captain But- tr's big event. The Maize and Blue leader is also counted on to show to" advantage in the half. Walker Has Cich Walker should have a cinch in the high jump, and Naylor in the pole vault may be counted on for another first. Cruikshank should share high point honors with Simmons, for in the hurdles and broad jump he ex- cels anything Chicago has thus far of- fered. Stipe, Van Orden, and Dunne form the Wolverine weight nucleus with Schmidt and Jacobs lending their aid, while in the javelin a fight for first honors is expected between Hoffman and Dunne, both of Michi- gan. BAL TEAM LAYE ON WESTERN TRIP Chicago Will Present Formidable Out- fit Today; Fritz Crisler Probable ' Hurler of Maroon Nine DIXON, LIVERANCE TO DOj PITCHING FOR WOLVERINES Michigan's Varsity baseball nine en- trained 15 strong last night for a Western trip of two games with Chi- cago and Iowa. Today the Wolverine pastimers swing into action againstrthe: strong Maroon team, and on Monday they battle the Hawkeyes. While the Michigan team has a rec- ord of victories over both aggregation hard games are expected at both plac- es. With Fritz Crisler on the mound, the Chicago outfit will be more formid- able than when they played the Wol- verines to a ten inning game on Fer- ry field. Dixon is Coach Fisher's choice for pitching duty today, and if he goes like he did against Ohio State, Michigan should add andther win to' her list of victories. Because of the way he turned down Iowa last Saturday, Liverance will be called upon to pitch Monday at Iowa City. Here another win should be added to the Wohlerine string. With five Conference victories already cred- ited to them, the Michigan, players are determined to keep a clean slate for the rest of the season. A light workout yesterday primed the Wolverines for the trip, and with practically the entire squad laying off Thursday for Pratt day in. Detroit, the men should be thoroughly rested up. In the last few games the Wolverines have been playing almost perfect ball, each man having improved greatly in the field and at bat, and the coach is looking for continued improvement and excellent performances from all his men. Captain Pete Van Boven, Uteritz, Shackleford,' Karpus, Vick, Perrin, Genebach, Klein, Dixon, Liverance, Schultz, Ruzicka, Johnson, Roby, Dunn, Coach Fisher, aild Manager Porter made the trip. Entry Lists For Interfraternity Mleet Close Soon With the time for closing the entry lists in the interfraternity track meet near at hand, the houses are signing up well, but it is believed that there are a large number which have failed; to do so, although desiring to enter. Positively no entries will be accepted after 2 o'clock Monday, at which time a representative of the intramural department will be on Ferry field to take any ast minute entries. Further, it must b~e noted that, by that time, each house must have turned 'in to the intramural department a list of the entrants in each event. Until noon Monday this may be done at' the of- fice of the department. After that time a member of the fraternity must appear on Ferry field with the lists of his entries. The following events are on the card: 100, 220, 440, and 880 yard1 runs, 120 yard low hurdles dnd 220 yard high hurdles, mile and two mile distances, broad jump, high jump, pole vault, discus, shot put, javelin throw, and a relay of four man teams, 200 yard per man. In addition there is to be a pentathlon consisting of the run- ning broad jump, 12 pound shot put, discus, 100 yard dash, and half mile. First four places will count in each event, and each house entering will receive points on the fraternity chart, the winner to receive 125 and the re- mainder grading down.f SOCCER ELEVEN TO PLAY STATE CHAMPS Michigan's informal soccer team meets the Roses of Detroit this after- noon.
