Big Day at Cornell Saturday is Spring day at Cornell,{ and in addition to the tennis matches AR with Michigan the Red crew rows against Princeton, and the baseball left team takes on Yale. nts This trip is one of the most am- of bitious ever planned by the Varsity ntic tennis team, and is he only Eastern be competition in which any Michigan nn., team enters this year. The members the of the squad are hoping for an even break, which means wins from Am- ar- herst and Cornell. Victories over the Harvard and Yale are not remote pos- ;GW. sibilities, but, due to the little time illi- that Michigan has had to train for ady, the meets, the men are not in the best lay condition for the trip. 19 re 7: el se Se' Pa lol la SWIIMING NOTICE The following members of the; 921 Varsity swimming team are equested to meet at the Union at 15 o'clock this evening for the ection of a captain for the 1922 eason: Hubbard, Gilmore, Hyde, earle, Yerkes, White, Porter, 'rker, Hanson, Babcock, Dun- p, Valentine, Smith, Corby, Dol- vo, Elliott. Alpha Kappa Kappa took Phi Rho Sigma into camp by a 16-11 score on the same day. In the ,tennis matches Phi Sigma Delta defeated Phi Chi 2-0 and Stein- er had little trouble in disposing of Wright, winning by 6-1 and 6-1, and Clippert fell before the fast work of Sanchez, losing two natches, 6-0 and 6-2. The tennis match between Schaef- er, 493, and Rohan, 1575, must be played by Friday'night as it is in the second round. i chance to defeat the University of Michigan cinder path artists when the two, aggregations meet on the Ferry field oval gaturday afternoon. The Maroons invade Ann Arbor with two overwhelming defeats behind them in outdoor track, as well as a miserable indoor season during which Michigan experienced no difficulty in coming out on the long end of a large count. Iowa and Wisconsin are the two squads which have taken the measure of the Chicago crew in meets which resembled processions of their own athletes rather than real competition between rival universities. The Hawk-' eyes romped over the Maroons by a count of 94 1-2 to 34 1-2, while the Badgers went the cohorts of Iowa one better by garnering a total of 105 while the Maroons could barely locate 30 counters during the melee. Chicago is admittedly superior in but two events, the two mile and the ham- mer throw, with Dooley acid Sprugh in the former and Redmon in the lat- ter excelling the Wolverine entries. In a third, the mile, the Maroons are thought' to have the edge, Krogh be- ing a man who is fast and hard to beat. In all other events, however,. the Wolverine men are easily the su- perlor of their opponents, and the final score of the meet should show, Michigan leading by a good margin. How the Teams Lineup Notre Dame Micigan Kane, 3b Uteritz, 2b Miles, ss Van Boven, ss Mohardt, cf Perrin, cef Blievernicht, c Shackleford, IbI Fitzgerald, lb ' Karpus, 3b Prokup, If Klein, rf Barry, rf Genebach, If Kiley, 2b Vick, c Castner, p Schultz, p, Notre Dame's ball nine, determined to even the year's series, comes to Ann Arbor today for the only home game on the Michigan schedule this week. ' Just returned from Ohio State where they played their best game of the{ season, the Wolverines are in top form, and do not expect to go into the ninth inning several runs behind, as was the case at South Bend two weeks ago. However, the Notre Dame team is a ' strong club and is expected to put up a hard battle which will not -be over until the last man is down in the ninth. For several seasons the Irish- Wolverine games have been fiercely' contested, the Catholics occasionally overcoming Michigan teams which de- feated all other comers in this section. Yesterday afternoon after a light batting and fielding practice Coach Fisher announced that Dick Schultz would be his choice for mound duty' today. In the previous contest at South Bend the Nebraskan turned back the Catholics with a fair degre of success for the last five inning and as he makes the original start t day, he will have everything to wo for. In all probability Castner, a po side flinger, will do the pitching fo Notre Dame. If he is the visitor hurler, it will prove valuable trainin for the Wolverines in preparation f the coming Illinois games since Barne premier Indian pitcher, is a left hand er. The Michigan hitters have ha little practice against left hande this year and will welcome a chanc to try their offerings.
