S. U. dual meet at Co- lumbus Saturday. "They have equip- ment second to none in the West, draw just as good material as we do, and in addition have a coach who was The only man who ever won two events in one day at the Penn Relays. The sentiment on the campus that this meet should be a practice tilt for us has no foundation." Two Ohio Men Do Well at Penn The Scarlet and Gray squad was considerably weakened by injuries last year and its performance was no true measure of its present strength. Two O. S.-U. men furnished one of the thrills at the Penn Relays last week when they forced Desch of Notre' Dam' to break the world record for1 the 440 low hurdles. Pittinger of State led the winner all the way, beat him over the last hurdle and just lost out in the straightaway beyond .the last hurdle. Twenty men have been chosen to make the Columbus jaunt and will leave at 12:50 o'clock today over the1 Ann Arbor in charge of Coach Far- rell and Manager Fisher. Losch, Sim mchns, Butler, Wetzel, Lewis, Burns, Douglas, Burkholder, Standish, Cruik-' shank, Sargent, Walker, Naylor, Stipe, Schmnidt, Hoffman, Dunne, Jacobs are the men who will wear the Maize and Blue. Van Orden Not Going Van Orden, who made the California' trip, has not shown good form since the, team'sreturn from the West and Ih't has been left here to practice for the Illinois dual meet. Swift was not included in the squad although he won the low hurdles in the trials. The fact that he is not a high hurdler and Sargent does both the high and low events gave the latter man the post. SWING-OUT HALTS FOOTBALL DRILL Swing-out made itself felt way down on Ferry field yesterday afternoon, only about 25 men appearing in togs. Tad spent the greater portion of the afternoon having the boys place and drop, kick. Every candidate was given ample opportunity to show what he could do in booting the ball from placement. Knode also did a great deal of punting.. The backs specialized in passing with the ends running down under the pigskin. At the same time the line- men were shown how to break. through two opponents and how best to use their hands and eyes. It is hoped that a large number will be out- today as this is the last time this week to get in some hard work. No prac- tice will be held Saturday on account of the baseball game with Chicago. -In tramural Item s TENNIS Wednesday of next week will be the last day on which first round matches in the All-campus tennis singles-may be played. The team, made up of Capt. Walter Wesbrook, Lewis Munz, Robert Angell, Charles Merkel, and Manager George Rein- del Jr., will . leave from Detroit at 10:20 o'clock tonight and will arrive in Columbus at 8:40 Saturday omrn- ing. In order that the tennis men may witness the track meet in the after- noon, the net match will take place at 10 in the morning. It is quite prob- able that Captain Wesbrook will not play as Steve may need . him in the pole vault that-afternoon. In that case Munz will play number one. The doubles combinations have not yet been decided. While this is the ' Varsity's. first match, Ohio State has already down- ed two smaller colleges in Ohio. The Scarlet and Grey ihas made a clean sweep in all matches with Denison and Oterbein. Although it is not cer- tait who will represent the Columbus school, Hane, Carran, Wirthwein, and Judd are probable choices. Hane with his doubles partner Bartel was dou- bles champion of the State of Michi- gan several years ago. Wirthwein and Judd were both members of last year's team which went down to de- feat before the Varsity net men by the score of 5 to 1. Unless it is found that his services are needed Wesbrook will play in only one match, provided the track team does not demand his services. Should the play be going against the Maize and Blue, the captain will take part in both the singles and doubles. Patronize Daily Advertisers.--Adv.
