With the presentation of the clever and well-acted little play, "The Won- der Hat", at the Women's league par- ty yesterday afternoon in Barbour gymnasium, Mummers, the new dra- matic society for women, made its in- itial public appearance. The finish and grace of the entire production leaves no doubt as to the future reputation and standing of the new organization. Against a charming stage-setting, representing a wooded park lit by 'a glowing, yellow moon, fairy person- ages were depicted in a very persua- sive manner. Florence Derrick, '22, as Columbine, was as dainty and win-' some as her part required, and fully, capable of winning the affections of that unwilling fellow, Harlequin, whose role was played by Theodosia Burton, '23. Pierrot, properly blase and conceited, was depicted by Velma Carter, '23. Dorothy Southgate, '21, as Punchinello, played a difficult char- acter role well, while Madeleine Mc- Gurk, '23, kept the audience laughing by her interpretation of the comedy part 'of Margot. = The details of costuming and stag- ing were carefully and effectively at- tended to, and speak well for careful and painstaking work on the part of the student committees in charge.
