MlAIN STREET PHONE 1404 /-: L 1 11 I t' '. a,~ -t UNUSUAL OPPORTUNITY O(WERED IN COMING EXTRA SESSION "Students who. plan on enrolling in the Summer session should consult with instructors before Easter vaca- tion," said Dean E.. H. Kraus in an interview yesterday. "The annual, announcement is now out And they can determine their courses and make arrangements best at the present time.". Dean Kraus went on to say that! students can avail themselves of an excellent educational opportunity and at the same time do the University a real service by attending the Summer session. The actual economic value of shortening their college course is a thing little appreciated by students, but it should be a very real factor, especially when the demand for col. lege-trained men and women is as great as it is at the present time. Lessens Congestion With the University so congested the student should also remember that by shortening his 'course he is en- abling the school to offer facilities to new students whose opportunities' must be limited under present condi- tions. "The faculty of the Summer ses- sion is, practically without exception, chosen from the best men of the regu- lar session," the Dean said. "ixamin- ation of the catalogue will show nearly all of the older and more prominent professors have been se- cured i The course of special lec- tures is the best that has }ever been given, and, this, together with the chosen faculty, the freedom from con- gestion, and the opportunity for con- tact with the more serious-minded men and women who attend the ses- sion, many from quite a distance' should be considered in deciding whether to attend summer school or spend the vacation in another way." Three-Week Vacation Enough "The old idea that three months are needed for rest during the summer is now becoming obsolete," Dean Kraus said iA conclusion, "and periods of three weeks are allowed before and after the session anyway. Students should realize the manifold advan- tages ot summer session work and make arrangefaents as soon as possi- ble if they desire to attend."
