GOVERNOR LOWDEN
TO SPEAK FRIDAY
Gov. Frank 0. Lowden, Republican,
candidate for the nomination for
president, will speak at the Majestic
theater at 12:30 o'clock Friday after-
noon, following a reception in his and
Mrs. Lowden's honor from 11:30 to
12:15 o'clock in Martha Cook building.
This will be open to all University
women.
After the address in the Majestic
a dinner will be held in the Union at
which he will give a short talk. Tick-
ets for this are on sale now and may
be had from George Struckman, '20L.
Governor Lowden is to arrive here at
11 o'clock from northern Michigan,
where he has been speaking.
From here he will proceed to Jack-
son and *then to' Detroit, where' he
will finish up his Michigan campaign
with two addresses on Saturday. Mr.
Lowden is in Ann Arbor under the
auspices of the University Republican
club and "will deliver a non-partisan
speech.

CollegeExchanges
Syracuse- Sixty thousand dollars
have been contributed to the school
of business administration. The Pur-
pose of the endowment is to establish
a new chair pf transportation at the
school. The amount is sufficient to
bring a transportation expert to Sy-
racuse to develop the department.
The donor has stipulated that the best
man available be secured.
Motor transportation dealing with
present day problems of long distance
freight and passenger traffic by mot-
or trucks will be included in - the
course.
Minnuesota-- Next summer .$100,000
will be expended in a new building
Orogram at the "Farm," which will
result in remodeling and reconstruc-
tion of the chemistry, horticulture,
and plant pathology buildings. A new
veterinary barn is one of the parts of
the program. It will be one of the
most modern structures of its kind in
the country.
North Dakota-Students will be al-
lowed no more cuts. Absences from
classes will be bunished by the low-
ering of final grades.
California- Student "Labor Day"
was observed recently at the Univer-
sity of California, during which
campus improvements, chiefly roads
and walks were constructed, each col-
lege working as a unit and costumed in
a uniform dress. This is the seventh
such day observed at California.
Iowa State A series of senior
"skips'' and meetings wil be held in
order to further a better senior class
spirit among the different colleges
of Iowa State unitersity.

MICHIGAN INTEREST IN SOUTH
AIM OF LDIXIE CLUB'S PLANS
To create a greater interest in
Michigan so as to encourage southern
men to come to the University is the
plan of the Dixie club, decided' upon
at its initial meeting Tuesday night
in the Union.
More th.an 30 men were present
among whom were several formei
members of the organization who gave
talks on previous accomplishments of
the club. At the next .meeting of the
club which will be held next Tues-
day, the election of offices will take
place.
All men who live south of the Ma-
son-Dixie' line are invited to be pre-
sent.
