Mimes, Michigan Opera honorary organization, laid plans Tuesday night to perpetuate them in tap room s'ings. Leaders are to be provided by the entertainment com- mittee, to direct the singing a the usual Friday and Saturday night meet- ings. THE MAJESTIC Olstacles of differences in education and affiliations in a mountain struggle are overcome in the romance between Eileen O'Hara, forced by her father to stay in seculsion in the Adiron- dacks, and Dr. Linsing, a member of a wealthy fishing club which tries tol steal her father's land, in "Even as Eve," to be repeated today at the Ma- jestic. The climax of the story comes when, after one of the least scrup- ulous of the clubmen has accidently killed the old mountaineer, he at- tempts to force Eileen to relinquish her inheritatce. Some of them are quite old, "We're Going to the Amberg Show," dating back to 1858. This particular song was the composition of a student who attended Van Amber's show contrary to the wishes of the faculty. It seems that Van Amberg was com- ing to Ann Arbor with his circus, I and the faculty of the University had forbidden students to attend, where- upon they immediately went on strike, all agreeing to stick together and go to the show. It was in celebration of this event that the song was written. Prohibition had a serious effect on them, it was " agreed, since no com- mon meeting ground existed after the bars were closed. Plan to Use Tap Room It is the plan of Mimes to perpetuate these songs through the tap room sings and to stimulate the singing of them by as great a number of men as possible. In addition to assigning work to the entertainment committee, the same officers were re-elected to serve for the second semester. 20 FELLOWSHIPS NOW AVAILA BLE money to keep up the traditional ap- pearances, the -heroine's father finds exposure imminent, and confesses his crime to Davenant who covers the loss. Scores Idea of Judging Profession by Money Return -in Talk to Freshmen "Gointo the line of work in which you'll have the most fun," said Prof. John C. Parker to the engineering freshmen at their class meeting held yesterday. Professor Parker scored the idea of judging a profession by the money re- turn. "This is indeed a low basis of judgment," he said, "the real crite- ria is to see whether you'll'' be happy in the Job." In speaking particularly of the field of electrical engineering and the open- ings for men in that field, Professor Parker pointed out that eJctrical en- gineers deal with things that cannot and probably never will be seen with the eye.
