'1 : Momn There will be a rehearsal of the en- tire first and second acts complete of the Junior Girls' play at 9 o'clock Saturday morning, March 20, in Sarah Caswell Angell hall. A card party and tea will be givenj at 2:30 o'clock on Saturday afternoon in Martha Cook building. The object of the party is to help with the debt on Alumnae house, and to swell the funds of the Rose Sedgwick scholar- ship, which aims to bring British women to this country to study. Both men and women are invited to attend. The Michigan women's annual luncheon will be given at 12:30 o'clock Saturday, April 3, in Barbour gym- nasium. The dele- gates to the conference, which is the first to be held since the war, will be guests of the University of Missouri at Columbia, Mo. Delegates will be in attendance from most of the mid- dle western states.* Various phases of the athletic prob- lem for women will be discussed, in- cluding the attempt to establish ath- letic associations at all colleges of- feringa four year course for women and giving a B. A. degree. It will al- so be decided how honor points can be transferred from one university to another. Any other questions that the delegates bring from their respective schools will receive consideration. This is the first time that Michigan 'has been invited to attend the confer- ence. Illinois Head Tenders Resignation Edmund Janes James, president of the Univer'sity of Illinois, tendered his resignation to the board of trus- tees last Tuesday. He has served in the capacity of resident of the uni- versity since Sept. 1, 1904, but since the opening of the present school year he has been on a year's leave of absence. During the president's absence, D. David Kinley has been acting president. Before accepting the presidency of the university, Dr James held profes- sorships in the University of Pennsyl- vania and the University of Chicago. February 1, 1902, he became president of Northwestern University.. Among the various degrees held by Dr. James is an honorary LL.D. degree confer- red by the University of Michigan in 1914.
