Dr. Carrara was one of the first o. the graduates from a Spanish univer- sity to be sent to this country to take up graduate work. He'worked.here in the Pathological'laboratory and was made research assistant to Dr. Aldred S. Warthin. Dr. Carrera is the author of a number of articles which have appeared in El Siglomedica, a Madrid medical journal. Sain has mapped out a system by which it will select a number of pen- sioned students each year to be sent to American universities. PROH1IBITION FORCES' FAMOUS CAFEPTO CLOSE ITS DORS New York, Feb. 25.-The Cafe de Paris, formerly known as Rector's, acknowledged its defeat by prohibition and today closed its doors. An in- voluntary petition in bankruptcy was also filed against the Pekin, another popular cafe under the old regime. Charles E. Rector established the Rector cafe more than 25 years ago on Broadway near 42nd street. When the late Mayor Gaynor ordered restau- rants to stop serving liquor after 1 o'clock in the morning Rector's was forced into banckruptcy.- Afterward it was moved and renamed- the Cafe de Paris.
