The winner of both the hur- iles in last year's freshman indoor neet has been showing up very well n the dashes. He has been running' Losch to the limit and is counted on -.s a strong member of the dash team. qis improvement has been as spec- ,acular as that of Losch's last year. With Johnson, Lashmet, Losch, and Cook, Coach Farrell has one of the strongest dash squads in the country. As, a team mate to Carl Johnson. Beardsley has been coming along in the hurdles. He is showing more speed and with constant practice should give the versatile captain a close race. Thus far he has shown more speed than in previous years. The high jump is being well taken care of by Johnson, Barringer, Later, Hobie, and Haig. All are working hard. The work of Slaughter in ,the pole 'vault is one of the bright spots in the early season training. His form is excellent and he has been clearing the bar at a very respectable height. Of the new men, Joyner has been showing up well in the quarter mile. Butler has been handling most of the quarter milers and a likely looking squad is being mustered into shape. For the half, mile, Steve has Burk- holder and Fitzgerald doing quite well and in the distances he is working hard to develop Maynard and Earle, members of the cross country team. Coach Farrell has a well balanced squad to work with but "steady, earn- est practice from day to day is the only guarantee of victory" he main- tains. Karpus Features Karpus, the Michigan forward who was ineligible the first semester, was responsible in a great manner, for the favorable verdict. His shooting which placed him high in the Conference last year, was excellent, both in this game and in the one with. Wisconsin. The result of the Wisconsin game: was rather a disappointment to the followers of the Michigan team, who had hoped for a closer score, if not a victory. Wisconsin was ranked at about the same level qs Minnesota; with more reserve power than the lat- ter team. The win from Minnesota comes as a pleasant surprise, especi- ally since the Michigan team was playing on a foreign floor, and after three days of travel.
