plight of the women students is espec-
ially serious. The university is con-
templating entering upon a building
program which will involve millions
of dollars.
Frankj~Ji and Marshall-The stu-
dent body at Franklin and Marshall
college, Pa., signed the pledge to
maintain law and order and to sup-
port the government at all costs. A
copy of the pledge and names will be'
pent to President Wilson.
Oklahoma -- Painted faces are no
longer popular at the University of
Oklahoma. A vigilance committee
armed with wet sponges is launching
a campaign on the campus which
promises to be very effective.
Harvard-Harvard now has an a la
c'arte dining hall. Tjte Memorial Mall
annex was completed last week, which
has made such service possible for the
first time. The food is served at
cost, thereby combining large choice
with as low prices as possible.
Massachusetts Tech.-It has been
announced by the "'authorities of the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
that there will be no temporary suc-
cessor appointed to take the place of
the late President MacLaurin, who
died Jan. 15. The functions of the
office will be carried on by an admin-
istrative committee of three members
of the faculty.

Pennsylvania-The hockey team of
the University of Pennsylvania will
hold hockey practice and games on
the new rink=which will be opened in{
Philadelphia Feb. 5. Exhibitions of
fancy skating and a match between
Penn and the Quaker City hockey
club willbe features of the first eve-
ning.
Illinois-A new three hour course
in navigation will be given under Pro-
fessor Stebbins of the department of
astronomy next semester. Pre-re-
quisites to the course will, be trigon-
ometry and sophlmore standing. It
will be of practical use to astronom-
ers and engineers 'as well as to those
who expect to put it to practical use.

No credit for the course will be given

Girls who wish to borrow money
from the scholarship loans for the

There are many positions open to
girls during examination weeks, such
as caring for children and doing light
housekeeping duties. Any one wish-
ing to work should see Dean Myra B.

Tuesdays of the examination weeks.
