Montgomery. to more trouble than the proverbial barrel of Ito more scrapes than a file-but she always Mis Helenl M. Woods, former em- ployment manage of the Commadore, Biltmore, and six other hotels operated by John MacE. Bowman, of Detroit, predicted a new hotel era as to the accommodation of women, in one of the opening addressh at the annual convention of the Michigan State Ho- tel association Tuesday at the. tHotel Statler in Detroit. Women travelers are dissatisfied with the impersonal greeting of ho- tel clerks. The "we-hope-this-room- is-comfortable" idea must replace the present "you're-darend-lucky-to-get- this-room" attitude. The day of the hotel hostess, hotel playrooms for chil- dren, special rooms exclusively for women is dawning. The ever increas- ing number of women who travel ex- tensively makes Inprovements of this nature' an absolute necessity. "This is the day for women in ho- tel work," she said. "They are the natural housekeepers. Itis their op- portunity to develop the home side of the hotels. A year or two and we will have sewing roolns,- nurseries, woman greeters. It is one of our stupidities today that she has to stand in the men's line, get her room like men dnd occupy a room blessed with none of the refinements to which she is accustomed. Just bare walls, a window, and a bath. If that isn't lonesomeness for the home woman, traveling alone." Among the other changes prophe- pied was the return of simple, cild- fashioned dishes. It is said, that the' ipublic is "sick to death" of French chefs and elaborately 'prepared foods and, that they will greatly appreciate the ,contemplated changes in the ho- tel menus.
