Nobody seems to know ex- actly how much truth there is in the statement. Everyone appears to have a different opinion on the matter,, and the various Ann Arbor dealers- have two decidedly different opinions as to the truth of the rumor. Some Forsee Prke Raise Generally speaking, about one-half, of the dealers claim to have inside information to the effect that the price of sugar will rise the frst . the year. They say that they have heard from a reliable source that quantities of beet sugar. have been stored by pro- fteers and that there,Is no doubt at all about the pri of sugar rising. One maw. affirms that he has been told by one of the biggest sugar merchants in the United States that the increase in pric will undoubtedly, take place. Others LessPessimistic The other half of the dealers' are Just as sure that there will. be no .hange in price. This 'factin even goes 'so far as to claim that they have heard from a reliable source that all the sugar difficulties will be adjusted mmediately after Christmas. They prophecy that.the new year wll soon see a reduction in the price, and that in a short time we' will be able to et all the sugar that we need. The present high price of sugar they claim to be the direct result of an attempt on the part of the government to make the prducersE sell sugar at a price below the one 'contracted' for. The cantyret being brokn, the producers retaliated by refusing to' 'sell' their" sugar at the 'conitract-price, and ina sisting upon an increase in price. This half clama' to' hiave heard definitely, ho~ever that these difficulties are :now in the w 'of being adjusted.
