Of League Play
"Dolls," the Christmas play to be1
given at 4:15 o'clock this afternoon in
Sarah Caswell Angell hall before the
Woman's league, is of' particular in-
terest to all Michigan 'women, be-
cause of the fact that it was written
by Louise VanVorheis Armstrong, '09,
who during her college days was un-
usually capable in dramatics of the
University. She wrote the Junior
girls' play in 1908, and in 1910 took
the leading role in "The Inspector,"
one of Comedy club's most notableI
productions. She was one of the wom-
en editors of The Daily. -
Since her graduation Mrs. Arm-
strong, who with {her artist husband,
Henry W. Armstrong, has a studio in
Chicago, has devoted herself to stage-
craft 'and play production work. She,
has directed the plays at the Chi-
cago Art institute, and the North-
western settlement, and last summer
was In charge of "The Enchanted Mir-
ror," which attracted much favorable
comment when it was given on the
Municipal pier. Her stage-craft work
has been exhibited at the Art institute
in Chicago and at the John Herron
Institute in Indianapolis. Photographs
of some of her designs will appear in
the December Theater magazine.
"Dolls" was written a year ago for
the Chicago Collegeclub, where it was
enthusiastically received. Mrs. Arm-
