Univ REPRESENTATION WITHOUT TAXATION Do you know what your representatives are doing -- each week in the meetings of the Student council? Far from suggesting that this body needs any par- r ticular censoring of its work, it is our idea that a more common knowledge of what it is fbr and what o it is doing, would be a decided stimulus to the com- ise mendable work which it has already done. The nd i1919-20 Student council has acquired an impor- tance in campus activities which has' probably not been equalled in the last several years. It should be granted a corresponding interest on the part of its 'lg. constituents. Of the We are told that the members of an ideal state ce. are in, constant touch with their legislative repre- - sentatives, this being an attribute to perfect repre - sentation. It would seem that 'a university comnua- or nity is the ideal place for practicing this theory by rr acquiring a personal familiarity with the workings, - of such organisations as the Student council. The university man who does not know what his ;or representatives are doing. is no less to be decried than the man who knows no interest in the activi-. ties of congress. Both fail in an appreciation of the very foundation of: our government. The uStdent council meets every Wedndsday evening in the Union. Ymu are privileged to attend" its open sessions and to be heard, if the occasion r arises. Make the council represent you personally.
