Tom Wise, who is acknowldded to
e one of America's premier character
omedians, is the star in Oliver Mor-
sco's company which presents "Cap-
y Ricks," Saturday, Dec. 6, at the
Vhitney. He will be seen in the part
f the rugged old sailor whose rough
,xterior is but a mask for a gentle
ature and a heart of-gold. The stage
ersion closely follows the etext of
fr. Peter B. Kyne's story with its
;enuine humor and an poccasional
ouch of phthos.

The Screen

Baptist guild members will meet at
2:45 o'clock this afternoon, and will
go from there at 3 o'clock to. sing
at the Homoeopathic hospital.
Sophomores are asked to pay their
freshman spread tax of $1 either to!
the chairman, Laura Snyder, '22, or to
Miss Louise Potter, in Dean Jordan's
Office.
'Girls who have signed up for basket
ball will please meet in Barbour gym-
na'sium at 4 o'clock Monday to ar-
range hours for practice.
The regular' monthly meeting of
Masques will be held at 4 o'clock
Tuesday afternoon in Sarah Caswell
Angell hall. It is especially import-
ant that all members be present as
the work for "Dolls," the Christmas
play. will be planned.
Girls who intend to take aesthetic
dancing, basketball, or swimming,
should enroll at once on lists posted
in Barbour gymnasium.
The cup game between sophomore
and senior hockey teams will be play-
ed at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon
on Palmer field.

SUGAR COMPANY ANNOUNCES
PURCHASE OF CITY PROPERTY
Mt. Pleasant, Mich., Nov. 22.-. A
large sugar company announces that
it has purchased a site and uncomplet-
ed buildings for a beet grinding plant
and sugar factory in this city. It is
proposed to erect a factory with a
daily capacity of 800 to L,000 tons of,

ing smile turned the debonair office
force of a flourishing insurance com-
pany into a despondent group of love-
lorn wretches forms the basis for "A
Virtuous Vamp," featuring Constance
Talmadge for three days beginning
today at the Majestic.
. Although the questioh of "what's in
a name", has never been settled, when
Gwendolyn Diani Beaufort Armitage-.
Beaufort Armitage seeks a position as
stenographer in the office of a bachel-
or who hates to mix society with bus-
iness, she calls herself Nellie Jones.
The only rman in the office who is
not susceptible to her charms is her
employer, and he happens to be the
only man she takes seriously. As
time goes on his coldness proves to
be only assumed. Other interfering
influence strive to keep the two apart,
but the clouds clear away and another
business man marries his stenograph-
er.
THE ARCADE
Work and wives. are what Elsie an-

night at Barbour gymnasium. There
