Communications
Editor, The Michigan Daily;
Last Monday afternoon the freshmen
of the literary college disgraced them-
selves before one of the most prom-
inent professors on the campus. The
occasion was that of the weekly talks
to freshmen. The subject of the lec-
ture was of interest to the most of
us and it is not to be believed that
the majority of those piresent were in
sympathy with the unmannerly recep-
tion given the speaker. On the con-
trary we are of the conviction that
the majority of the class feel, with us,
that an apology is due Professor R.
M. Wenley.
It would be haytw for anyone who
was not present to believe that even
twelve-year-olds would act as some
of the freshmen acted. Long' contin-
,ued and boisterous applauding at inop-
portune times, sneezing, blowing of
noses, andocommands of "louder" were.
indulged in by the undesirable ele-
ment. Those who did want to get
what the speaker had to say, found it
next to impossible.
The time has now come when they,
should realize that they are students
of the University of Michigan and that
Michigan has no toleration for high
schoo.l rowdyism. Let us repeat that.,
'the majority of us regret the unseem-
ly disturbance caused by a small min-
ority of the class who chose that un-
fortunate time to .display their lack
of respect for this man of internation-
al reputation, who gave freely of his
valuable time for our information and
enjoyment.

UNSDELIVERED MAIL FORCES
P. 0. REQUEST FOR ADDRESSES
All students are requested by the
postmaster to either mail or take their
addressesto the postoffice within the
next few days.
There is a great pile of undelivered
letters there which were sent. to stu-
dents addressed either to the Univer-
sity or often merely Ann Arbor. As
the University authorities will not
give the addresses to the postoffice
men it is impossible .to deliver them
and they eventually go.to the dead let-
ter office.
The postmaster also said that the
postoffice in Detroit can use quite a
number of students during Christmas
vacation and desires that all who wish
to work at that time send in their
applications as soon as possible. The
pay will be 60 cents per hour.
