Lack of concerted action cost the yearlings failure to score on possi- bilities which outnumbered those of their second year rivals and conquer- ors. End runs by Doliavo and the line plunging of Bailey counted gains for the freshmen. A long pass to Dudek added further vengeance to the losers' offense. Sutton featured on the left side defense of the line. Toutloff proved the consistent ground gainer of the victors, while Hackett broke loose for one good run of 40 yards. Trials are being run this afternoon for the purpose of se- lecting four men for running- part- ners to Burkholder and Schimmel. These two men are sure of their plac- es on the team. Promising material is available and Michigan should send a strong team against the Illini. Six to Make Trip The coach is taking six mien with him for this race. In all probability,. they will leave with the football squad. In order that they may witness the gbidiron struggle, the race is to be run at 10:30 o'clock Saturday 'morn- ing. The course will be five miles, which is just a mile and a half long- er than 'that run at Lansing last. week. In the race at M. A. C. this past Saturday, a little tough luck robbed. the men of an excellent chance to win. Burkholder and Schimmel who have won every race they ever en- tered here at Ann Arbor, were run- ning along in the first four the en- tire stretch. About a half mile from home, Schimmel, in passing another man, stumbled and wrenched his knee, thus being forced to drop out. Hard Luck at M. A. C.. Burkholder was running Wilcox a very close second. On the home stretch he spurted and was about to pass him. He tripped on Wilcox's heel and fell. In the meantime two other men\ passed him. He finished fourth with his knees full of cinders. In- cidentally tie first four finished with- in five seconds of each other. Both Michigan and M. A. C. have won two legs on the cup. If either, -of these schools wins it next spring, it becomes the permanent property of that team. Although somewhat the worse for their fills last Saturday, Burkholder and Schimmel should ' be in shape for the 'cross country jaunt against Illinois. TENNIS TOURNEY RJEACHEiS FINALS Play in the final round of the ten- nis tournament will probably take place on Wednesday. By virtue of winning their respective halves in the draw, Stephens and Cole will fight it out for the cup. Both men have elim- inated some excellent players ii the course of the tourhhament and a good match should result when they come together. The doubles is still delayed at the semi-final round. Riley and Doty play Bowers and Cre don. The winner will meet BorinsteiA and Kelsey in the final round. The former match should be played today so that the finals may be disposed of on Wednesday.
