FROM TROPICAL- FORESTS
D. M. Matthews, '08, and M. D.
Knapp, '11, are in town for a few days
renewing old acquaintances.
Mr. Matthiews is conservator'of for-
ests in British North Borneo which has
an area almost twice the size of Mich-
igan. A large percentage of this coun-
try is covered with valuable tropical
forests. Mr. Matthews has just' re-
turned from London where he made
arrangements with a large company
for the exploitation of this timber.
Mr. Knapp is on the inspectors staff
of the United States Rubber Plantation
company at Madan Sumatra where the
company has a plantation of some
6,000,000 trees.
