University hall, built in 1859, is the third oldest building on the campus, and the regents have de- cided to name it after President John Bascom who headed the university during the years 1874-1887. illinois-A united purchasing sup- plies committee has been organized by 15 members of the University of Illinois. The idea of this organization is to reduce the high cost of living. Already contracts have been made for coal, and it is planned to include can- ned goods, sugar, and flour.
