Practice will be held every afternoon after 2:30 o'clock. "There are two reasons why every football man should come out," said Mr." Bartelme yesterday. "His appear- ance indicates that he is showing the right spirit and is trying to prever Aanother disastrous year on the grid- iron. University Ave. Knode A Veteran Baseball Player Mike Knode, Michigan's stellar shortstop, has been chasing the horse- hide on different teams for the great- er part of his life. He started his career at Marysville, West Va., playing with the local high school of that city during his freshman year. The Marys- vile high passed through this sea- son undefeated, because of the sterl- ing support given its pitchers. Knode left 'Marysville and the next baseball season found him chasing grounders on the Maryland Agricul- tural college nine. For th.ree years Mike played with this aggregation and his record speaks for itself. - He bass- ed through those three years never batting below .324 and making few' errors. In 1916 Mike first appeared in a Michigan uniform, when he held down second base on the All-Fresh nine. Since this time he has been one of Coach Lundgrenfs most dependable men and his work at. short is beauti- ful to watch. Mike is a fast man and a sure 'l el~r and few indeed are the hits that'get by him. It has been rumored that Branch Rickey of the St. Louis Cards is hot on the trail of Knode. However, Mike says that he will never take up base- ball as a profession since he is too in- terested in surgery. While the scouts were watching the team at Vander- bilt, Mike clouted out a home run, one three sack drive and two, two baggers, as well as making one of the most sensational catches of his car- eer~ This extremely good, showing is bound to mean more tempting of- fers for him.
