WOMEN TO INSTALL
2 NEW TRADITIONS
Two new traditions, installation of
officers and an annual meeting, will be
established by the Women's Athletic
association Thursday afternoon in
Barbour gymnasium. The meeting
will be held at 5 o'clock. All mem-
bers of the association will be ex-
pected to attend.
On account of the growth of the
association in the last two years, it
has been found advisable to hold this
meeting in order to keep members in-
formed as to the work of the organi-
zation. Reports of the officers and
committee chairmen will be read at
this time. Amendments to the con-
stitution will also be ratified.

PHARMACY COLLEGE NEXT YEAR
Summer Session Calls Forth Many
Inquiries; Few Additional
Courses
Pharmacy college enrollments for
next year promise to far outdistance
those of any previous year, accord-
ing to Dean A. B. Stevens of that de-
partment.
Many inquiries relative to next
year's work have already been receiv-
ed, a large number of them coming
from men in the service.
The summer school promises a large
enrollment also. The same courses
will be offered in the latter as last
summer except an additional course
will be offered by Dr. Kraemer.
SPECIAL AMUSEMENT TAX TO
HELP PAY GERMAN WAR DEBT
Berlin, May 7. - German pleasure
seekers will be called upon to pay a
considerable part of the cost of the
war through a special amusement tax
which will form an important part
of the government's new financial pol-
icy. The tax will apply to admissions
to theaters, concerts, the movies and
dances. Starting at 10 per cent on
the cheaper tickets it rises to 30 per
cent on the price of better seats.
The passion for amusement after
long years of war is so great that the
tax is not expected to discourage at-
tendance at theaters.
Gambling is in great favor in Ger-
many just now, and the playing card
tax which in ordinary times would be
considered prohibitive is expected to
have practically no effect on sales of
cards.,

AIR SERVICE RECRUITING
PREVENTED BY ACCIDENT
Another postponement of the air
service recruiting campaign in this
city has been necessary because of
the jinx which followed the Selfridge
flyers on the Ohio campaign last week.
Of the seven planes which went on
the trip only three returned to the
local field intact. The soft condition
of the Toledo field where the planes
were kept caused three to turn over.
One of these was the giant Caproni
which was one of the features the
Selfridge flyers were showing. One
of the planes was demolished by
flames.
