CONDITIONS IN RUSSIA CAUSED BY ILLITERACY: (Continued from Page One); 000 people of the white race. It is a1 comparatively pure race, 80 per cent Slavic, and all its virtues and all its evils are accentuated by this fact. Like children, the Russian people are straightforward, simple, honest. They have a great desire or knowledge. If we love children, we must love the Russian people. German Control Feared "A fact only too little appreciated, the Germans are seeking to exploit Russia. If we still sleep, the Hun will. secure the commercial control of the world through making Russia a cat's paw for its own ends. "We must go to the Russians per- sonally. We must aid them economi- cally, we must set them the example so that through us they will learn; we must bring release to the dormant wheels of industry." INCORRECT DATA CAUSE OF ERROR IN SUNDAY'S DAILY Due to relying upon data obtained from a supposedly authentic source, it was stated in the issue of Sunday's Daily that three members of the facul- ty of Columbia university, Profs. Scott Nearing, Charles A. Beard, and Mr. Dana, were dropped from the Colum- bia teaching staff. Professor Nearing was dismissed from the University of Pennsylvania on account of an infringement of teaching in economics in that univer- sity. It was Prof. J. McKeen Cattell and Mr. Dana who were dismissed from Columbia. Professor Beard resigned as a protest against the injustice done his colleagues. The Students patronize The Daily advertiser.-Adv.
