A number of the best known stars will be heard, including the renowned Enrico Caruso, who will open the series Saturday evening, Oc- tober 19. Caruso has seldom been heard out- side of New York, where he has been the leading star of the Metropolitanr Opera company for many years. Nine years ago he appeared in a limited number of recitals in the Middle West,' and three years ago he was heard in three cities. To Visit Four Cities This year he will be heard in con- cert in Buffalo, Ann Arbor, Chicago, and St. Louis. These cities are par- ticularly fortunate in obtaining him since practically every large city from coast to coast was a bidder for a date. At Ann Arbor he will be assist- ed by Nina Morgana, prima donna so- prano of the Metropolitan Opera, and by Elias Bheeskin, Russian violinist. Anna Case Coming Anna Case, the charming American opera and concert singer, will make her Ann Arbor debut in a recital of songs in November, and in December Leopold Godowsky, Russian pianist, will be in Ann Arbor for the first time, and in January, Joseph Bonnet, the distinguished French organist, will be heard. He was called from the trenches by his government and sent to carry a message of French artistry to the American music loving public. Toseha Seidel to Appear Toscha Seidel, the much talked of violin sensation, will give a recital in February. In May, the Festival of six concerts will assemble the artistic assets of orchestra, choruses, and a list of re- nowned artists. Collegiate Alumnae have recently moved their Hostess House, which for some months was established in Bar- bour gymnasium, to the Alumni Me- morial hall, where the rooms have been fitted up with every possible con- venience for the soldiers and their friends. Work Varied The work of the Hostess House is varied in its scope, but it aims to ac- commodate the men and their friends in any way which presents itself. A writing room is provided, magazines, and cozy corners arranged with easy chairs, rugs, plants, and flowers. All telegrams and telephone calls for the soldiers come to the Hostess House and friends may come there, seeking friends or relatives in the S. A. T. C. Orderlies are in attendance at all times to summon the men and get them there in the shortest possible time. There, also, relatives or friends may find lists of rooms which have been inspected by a committee from the association, where they may find lodging during their stay in the city.' In fact the House strives to be of service to the men in every way. Problem Harder The problem of caring for the needs of the men has, up to this time, not been a difficult one, with only about 900 on the campus, but with the com ing of several thousand it is expected that the women who have the work in charge will have their hands full. New plans for the work are under way and are working out satisfactor- ily. Daily advertising is profitable.--Adv. Always-Daily service-Always.
