I was longing for my room mate, His melodious voice so clear, When a knock resounded loudly From outside my chamber door, "looray," I cried, "Some company," To make my lot less sore. "Come in, come In, I'm out o' luck," I invited to the guest. "Any clothesttonight for Smuck?" Well-you figure out the rest. A Survival Meeting lle-"Why do' they call it a mixer?" She-"It's usually such a tear- able shuffle."' Our Daily Novelette Bassanio sprinkled his brow with a bit of lavender water. Ha. Locol col- or. With a royal sweep of his hand (three queens and a pair of deuces) he ordered the gondola parked beside the hydrant in front of the royal pal- ace of Shylock. Ha. Broke again. Shylock was in his office ragging the scales with a suprano voice of high interest. (Awful, we'll admit it). Three thousand ducats swam in the canal below. Tulip Time in Holland. Bassanio enters. "You called me fish on Friday last- you," Shylock stopped. Who would- n't. "Shylock, I am here for a small loan. Just twenty-five dollars. You see I have to take a guest out to din- ner," the noble Venetian purled. "In love again?" asked the Merch- ant of Venus. "Chorus friend?" "Sir, you forget that I am married. Didn't you read the last act? Portia, my wife, is going to be my guest." "Simple, simple, just your wife. Here's fifteen cents." Shinkman KEEP ON KEEPING FIT -Military training has caused a great, .eal of attention to be paid to the hysical condition of the body. Keep- ng fit was the wat'chword that made xercise a pleasure and a delight. One; f the greatest benefits that he sold- er received from his training was earning how to take care of his, ealth.1 Now that the men are returning rom service, the tendency is to for- :et the exercise and the care of the ody. They feel like the football man eels after the last game of the sea- on. He thinks that he deserves a est, and he would like to loaf until he dext season comes around. But e doesn't. He knows that if he did, t would take too much training to get im in shape again. The men who have returned from ervice have an excellent foundation poni which to build their future ealth. They should lose no opport- nity of keeping themselves fit. To the college men who have come ,ack there is the too-little-appreciat- d gymnasium, which is only tooglad o welcome them. The gym is not ised as much as it should be by up- erclassmen. Let's remember that a .ealthy body means a healthy mind. Let's keep on keeping fit. VHEN THE GRADES COME OUT The grades are out. Those of us vho worked hard are heaving sighs f satisfaction. Those who didn't are eaving another kind. Life in college is a forerunner of that life in the world will be. Every low and again comes the checking p, the valuation, the physical esti- aate of what we have done. Some of us do not care what marks o get; others take a great interest n them. But whether we care or not, he marks keep coming. We can tever get away from them-in college r in life. The Germans are now admitting hat they made a mistake in 1871. Our ;uess is that it won't take them that ong to admit the one they made in 914. Some of the fellows are complain- ng that they didn't get overseas. Well,, we just got our marks and we Ldnt't either. The grippe epidemic is moving to- ward Toledo.
