UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS HAS
HIGH HOPES FOR 1918 QUINTET
Illinois, a member of the Confer-
ence, is jubilant over its prospects
for the championship. Reports are
coming through that they are abso-
lutely confident that they can run
away from all comers. Six of their
veterans have returned and there
seems to be much promising new ma-
terial. Two football stars appear to
have won places on the team beyond
dispute. They are Bert Ingwerson,
football captain this season, and Gill
Kopp, captain-elect. Taylor, Mittel-
man, Brobst, and Wilson, all of whom

won their "I" last year are out again
this season. A couple of good prac-
tice games have been arranged which
ought to prove fine experience. The
most interesting is one with the gobs
from the Great Lakes.
Newberry Hall Holds Navy Night
Navy night was held at Newberry
hall again last night. The feature of
the evening's entertainment was a
five reel movie drama which was far
above the average. C. P. 0. Brown
was called upon to give an impromp-
tu speech and what he had to say
was greeted with considerable en-
thusiasm.
