Vick Gets Honors Vick received his share of the hon- ors when Bckersall chose him for the all western conference center. De- spite the fact that this is Vick's first year in Varsity football he won the honor through his able passing on the ball and remarkable defensive work. Vick is accredited with being as good a center as was Schultze, Michigan's most famous pivot man. No other Michigan men were named either on the first or second all con- ference teams. S. A. T. C. MEN GET WORK One hundred men may secure work until February beginning as soon as demobilized. Good pay and extra bonus for good work. I quire at of- fice 721 N. University, loom A, be- tween 11 A. All men of Varsity calibre are ask- ed to report to the trainer between the hours of 10 and 12 and 2 and 4 o'clock on the earliest day possible, in he offlec of Waterman gymnasium., Although Freshmen are ineligible for conference work, they, too, are asked to report, that the trainer may be able to call upon them when needed. Candidates who expect to go Into, training at once, will not be permit- ted to workout unless they have the proper woolens for outdoor winter work.. Trainer May refuses to take any chances on exposing the men to illness. BASKETBALL TEAM NEEDS OLDER MEN More upperclassmen are needed as try-outs for Varsity basketball, ac- cording to Coach E. C. Mitchell. The 'freshman eligibility rule having been enforced, much good material in the class of '22 cannot be used and there are but few upperclassmen out. Next? Wednesday night at 7 o'clock the coach will receive the names of any upper- classmen desiring to workout. However, the practice last night in the gymnasium of Ann Arbor high school leads one to believe that Mich- igan has no cause for apprehension concerning this year's basketball team. Excellent and experienced material is on hand, the larger part of the Varsity squad being made up of last year's freshman team. Three of the 1918 football team are out: Cohn, Karpus and Fortune. The prac- tice was composed mostly of a scrim- mage between the upperclassmen and freshman although some time was de- voted to instruction in different tricks of dodging and defense. .
