YOSTMEN WIN LAST
BATTLE OF SA SON
(Continued from page one)
Cruse, substituting for Perrin, fur-
nished a streak of humor to the hard
fought game, when he almost lost all
the credit due him for his brilliant
work. Due to the fact that he was,
wearing a borrowed sweater during
the contest, press reports branded
him as Von Wagoner instead of him-
self. The error was recognized in

time to have it corrected.
Rife, 0. S. IT. Star
Rife, for Ohio State, played their
star game, fighting valiantly to beat
the toe work of Steketee. Wiper, their
quarter, played a heady game, but
his plays could not penetrate the line
of the Wolverines, causing his men
to be on the defensive practically
during the entire contest.
For the first time this year, the
Yostmen used the forward pass to so
much advantage. An aerial attempt
from Steketee to Dunne brought the
second touchdown, and one earlier
in the game from Knode to Perrin
brought a 24 yard gain.
All of the gains made by the Buck-
eyes can be attributed to their for-
ward- passing. They proved accurate
in this phase of the game, but did
not attempt to use it to any great ex-
tent until the last quarter, when it
was too late.
Will Not Claim Championship
Despite the fact that the victory of
the Maize and Blue over the Buck-
eyes is greater than was that of the
Illinois, self appointed champions of
the conference, Coach Yost will not
claim the honor because, he says:
"We would have been glad to have
a post seasonW game with Illinois.
That is the only way that the real
,title could be settled, but since the
:uckier state eleven has already
plalmed the title, we will not con-
test it."'
The game with the Buckeyes was
the 16th to be played between Michi-
gan' and the Ohio State team. As is.
the case with many of Michigan's
opponents, the Maize and Blue holds
the edge over the wet state gang.
Slippery Field
With the sun shining brightly fol-
lowing a severe rain, the field was
very slippery. Aeroplanes flew ,over
the field during the contest, doing
stunts at the close.
The Maize and Blue triumphed by
the following method:

From the beginning, the signal
corps team outplayed theirrivals, and
they were so successful in gaining
ground that they did not need to punt
once. The game was featured by a
lack of kicking, since the aviators
punted only once.
Theline of the visiting team wa a
very weak and the forward wall of
the signal corps repeatedly ripped
holes in their line. On defense the

home team was more successful In

CRUSE
Going into the game with an "as-

almost lost the credit that was' due
him for his remarkable showing in
the Buckeye contest yesterday. Sub-
stituting for Perrin, in the third
qiarter, he smashed his way through
the Ohio line, almost at will. Cruse
borrowed Van Wagoner's sweater, be-
fore the contest, and used his num-
ber. The error was caught in time
to place the proper credit.
