COACH TO ELEVEN LAST NIGHT BY Again, Coach Yost put his fighting >otball team through another two ours of secret practice, in prepar- ion for the Chicago battle, of the >ming Saturday, last evening on erry field. They were drilled in aroon formations, given a scrim- age, a forward pass practice, and a umber of new plays which they will ring at the Midway.-, The men, throughout the evening, iowed in their practice, what they erp going to do to Chicago. The reserves used Chicago formations against the Varsity, who had little difficulty in breaking them up. After this much open work, on the part of the first team, was attempted, and performed in excellent style. After dark, the hurry up mentor took his men over behind the stands, and showed them a number of com- binations which will, undoubtedly, cause Chicago considerable worry These are the plays. which are ex- pected to defeat the Midway team. The lights recently placed on the grandstand, in front of the baseball diamond, are the best substitutes for daylight yet found. They will illum- inate the field brightly enough to carry out anything that Coach Yost may desire to do. Thus rang the old derisive Wolverine battle-cry over Stagg field 13 years ago. But after the terrific battle was over Michigan was silent, for the Maroon had I humbled the Yellow and Blue. Saturday, all the players in that game, who can possibly go this year will do so. AW HAW! CHICAR-H GO! CRICAW-WGO! Michigan's team, that will meet Chi- cago next Saturday, at the Midway, will be picked this evening during practice, by Coach Yost. These men. will receive all of the mentor's at- tention from now until the evening before the big 'game. They will be worked continually, taught every trick of battle, and practiced in all of that which makes, football one of the most complicated of games. Upon these men will depend the fate of the Wolverines this week-end. They will have to avenge the defeat which Michigan suffered at Chicago's hands, 13 years ago. No leaf will be left un- turned by Coach Yost to insure the clash being turned into such a re- venge, but it is the men that he choos- es who must bear the brunt of bat- tle, and in their hands lies the re- sponsibility of defeat or the glory of victory. COSMOPOLITAN CLUB SOCCER TEAM TO PLAY ROSE CLUB Having been assured by the city health authorities that the ban on public meetings would be done away with Saturday noon, the Cosmopolitan club has arranged a game, to be play- ed between their soccer football team, and the Rose club team of Detroit, Saturday on Ferry field. - The time of the game will be announced later. The officials are endeavoring to get all men who have ever had any ex- perience at the game, tosreport for practice at Ferry field, this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Regular Backfield Performs Cohn, Perrin, Steketee, and Knode formed the backfield last evening. As they have performed together for sometime past, it .s likely that they will be Yost's choice to begin the coming battle. They worked hard throughout the afternoon, and in the scrimmage played beautifully on the defensive. In the line, Adams at guard, a man recently taken from the reserves,' showed up especially well. If his good work continues, he is likely to be one of the choices for the guard positions. For the past three years Adams has played on the reserves, but up to the present time, never seemed likely Varsity material. It was due to his persistent work, that he developed into a guard of first class calibre. The rest of the line is also doing -re- markable work.
