Sur- veyors are now on the grounds, but actual work will not begin until spring. Three motor trucks having been allowed, the use of horses will be discontinued. Despite the dampness that prevailed over the field, the gridders went through the' drill as though they were fighting the hardest game of the season. Coach Wears Smile Coach Yost wore his characteristic smile as in days of old, with the spirit of it being absorbed by the men. Such pep as they exhibited yester- day strengthens the promises for a world beating team, a hundred per cent. Folowing an afternoon spent in the clubhouse, because of rain, the men put into practical use what they had learned from the coach. The black- board talk of the day previous proved invaluable to the gridders, while the, new plays were run off with the finest precision. With Knode at the pilot position the team responded to the signals of the new plays as though they were re- hearsed every day. The little quart- erback is working himself into a high degree of accuracy in the game, and promises to be one of the wonders of the year. Despite the fact that more'than a half month will intervene before the Yostmen will meet any foreign op- position, Coach Yost is keeping his boys in trim, that he may be ready to meet the Maroons on Nov. 9. Still Working Line Still trying to make a stonewall of his line, Coach Yost has his linemen charging and blocking each other, teaching them how to make a hole in the line of the oposition, or how to keep one from being made in their own line, Although the line is show- ing a great deal of improvement it is still not to tha liking of the coach. Forward pass practice was also giv- en the backs. With the practice ahead of them not to be interrupted by a singletgame for at least two weeks, the team will be in tip top shape for the Chicago contest. Unofficial Soceer Team Proposed Soccer fans in the University will have an opportunity to see an unof- ficial school soccer team in action be- fore the season closes. A meeting will be held at Ferry field this after noon, to formulate plans for the or- ganization 'of an eleven. Practices will be arranged for, and all men ,m terested will be urged to tryout work to begin immediately. 1asketbFtll Star Dies Jimmy Rice, '11, fornir Varsity basketball player died at his home in Detroit, Thursday.
