With Class of J908 Dr. Freeman Stanislaus O'Brien, who is reported to have disappeared in Poughkeepsie, N. Y., on the eve of his marriage, and who is thought to, have been slain, is a graduate of the1 Michigan medical college, of the class of 1908. Dr. O'Brien came to Ann Arbor in 1903 from his home in Goshen, N. Y. During his freshman year he was dropped from the university owing to poor scholarship, but this sentence was changed to probation by the faculty. In 1904 he came again as a freshman. O'Brien was not active on the cam- pus. He entered with three condi- tions. During his last two years his standing improved rapidly. Upon leaving Ann Arbor, Dr. O'Brien practiced in New York state. He re-. ceived his license in 1910. Accord- ing to the latest reports in the uni- versity he has been working in Wap- pinger's Falls. HOUSE COMMITTEE NOT IN FAVOR OF PANIELS' PROGRAM IWashington, May 18.-=The H-ouse committee of naval affairstoday dis- credited the five-year building pro- gram of Secretary Daniels, recom- mending the construction of battle cruisers in lieu of dreadnoughts, and adopted a naval increase to cost ap- proximately $160,000,000. When it is reported to the House the naval appropriation bill will car- ry approximately $240,000,000. This is more than $90,000,000 more than the total of last year's bill.
