TUBERCULOSIS EXMINERS
FIND 32 CASES IN TESTS
Several Schools and Colleges Have
Yet to Fill Out Questionnaires
for Health Service
The tuberculosis campaign, instigat-
ed by the university health service of-
ficials, has brought to light 32 cases
of this disease out of more than 200
students examined. The campaign is
still in active progress, students in
several departments having yet to fill
out the blanks.,
In the future the health service wil
be open from 2:00 to 4:00 o'clockon
Monday afternoons as well as on Tues-
day and Friday at the same time, for
students desiring a physical examina-
tion for tuberculosis.
During the past month 2116 office
calls were treated at the health serv-
ice. This is not quite up to the aver-
age for other months, due to the 10-
day vacation.

The 1916 essay competition of the
Menorah Society will close May 15, up
until which time contributions will be
received at the office of Pres. Harry
D. Hutchins.
Two prizes of $100 each will be
awarded for the best essay on some
phase of the literature, history and
achievements of theaJewish people.
Thirteen subjects have been offered
for consideration, although the com-
petition is not limited to these subjects.
Essays of sufficient merit, whether
prize winners or not, will be publish-
ed in the Menorah Journal, the organ
of the national Menorah Society.
Prof. R. M. Wenley, of the philos-
ophy department, Prof. I. Leo Sharf-
man, of the economics department,
and Rabbi Leo M. Franklin, of the
Jewish tabernacle in Detroit, make up
the committee which has charge of
the awards.
ARCHITECTURAL COLLEGE WILL
BE INCLUDED IN 1916 AWARDS

t"te of Architects Given to
Michigan
The College of Architecture has just
been notified that it will again be in-
cluded this year in the yearly awards
of student medals of the American in-
stitute of Architects to the 10 fore-
most architectural schools in the
country.
Michigan's medal will be awarded
by the faculty of the college to the
graduate of highest standing' in 1916,
and coupled with the award will be
an invitation from the institute to ex-
hibit drawings at its annual exhibition
in Washington, D. C., some time in
December.
The drawings of the 10 honor stud-
ents in last year's exhibition were
recently brought to Ann Arbor, and
were displayed for some time in Al-
umni Memorial building.
Jackson Warden to Address Alumni
Nathan F. Simpson, warden of the
state prison at Jackson, will address
the University of Michigan club of
Detroit this noon at the Hotel Gris-
wold. His subject will be "Rebuild-
ing Men."

Hudson Maxim's "Defenseless Amer-
ica," a book dealing with the state of
unpreparedness of America, will be
in the possession of a majority of the
-Michigan professors in the near fu-
ture.
At least 500 copies have been ship-
ped by the Hearst International Li-
Oistributed parmphlets entitled "Lead
ing Opinions Both for and against Na-
tional Defense."
Forestry Seniors Entertain Grads
The seniors of the forestry depart-
ment gave a banuget to the post grad-
uates of the department at 6:30
o'clock last evening. S. R. Black, '16,
presided as toastmaster. Prof. Fili-

Plaintiff's Non-appearance Ends Suit
The malpractice suit brought by
Julia Simmons against Dr. D. W. My-
ers of this city was brought to an end
yesterday in the circuit court when
the complainant failed to appear, and
a verdict for the defendant was rend-
ered. The plaintiff asserted that the
defendant had illegally removed a ca
taract from one of her eyes, and de
manded damages for the injury.
