In a fast, extremely close race yesterday afternoon, the juniors nosed out the fresh lifts in the race for the first honors of the season. After the first three upper-classmen had established a good lead over the yearlings, Parks, the finish man for the latter team, gave Burby, the junior anchor man, the race of his life and almost caught him at the finish. The official time for the race was 1:57 1-5. When the present J-lits were year- lings, their class relay team composed of such stars as O'Brien, Fontana, Lapsley and Ilurby, hung up the cam- pus honors and also set a record that has not been equalled since. In the race for third place, the phar- inks defeated the senior .engineers easily. The winners hung up the slow time of 2:012) 1-5.
