L. Schurz, of the history depart- ment. It will be a three hour course and will deal with the history of all of the republics south of the Rio Grande including Mexico, Cuba, Haiti, and the West Indies. Kallen, of the philosophy department of the Univer- ;ity of Wisconsin. The lecturer urged the Menorah association to take an academic attiude toward the problems of life. "To be academic," said Pro- fessor Kallen, .is to think beforeyou act rather than repent after you act." He pointed out that in America we have no class to do our thinking for us as they have in Europe. Christie will give an illustrated lecture for the members of the Cercle Francais, at 5:00 o'clock, Tuesday in Tappan hall. Mr. Christie's lecture will deal with the subject of the work of the French scientists in the Philippines and will be illustrated by slides of the natives taken by the speaker during his resi- dence in the islands.
