Fail to See Passenger Train "We came along the big bend in the track, and saw the freight train ahead of us, so we went onto the other track. I was outside the rails, and I guess Lumsden must have been too, for the train only hit him in the arm and side. Bryant was walking on the rail, though. The freight made such a noise that we had no idea there was another train near." "Lumsden was about 10 feet be- hind me, and Bryant was about the same distance ahead. The long freight was making such a noise that we couldn't hear a thing. Suddenly there was a hiss of escaping steam, and I threw myself to the ground beside the' track. Just as I did so, the pas- senger shot by, and I saw it. pick up Bryant, who had been walking on the rail, and carry him about a hundred feet. "Lumsden waslying flat on the ground when I got to my fect. I went to him and thought he was dead, so I ran up to where Bryant was. He was moving a little and so I stayed by him, while the train came to a stop and began to back up." "Bryant had a broken neck, a broken leg, and somecinternal injuries," said Jones, "and I can't understand how he lived as long as he did. I thought all the time it was Lumsden who was going to die." Owing to the absence of Coroner S. W. Burchfield, the inquest will be slightly delayed, but it is believed tiat since the students were evidently tres- passing on railroad property, the Michigan Central will re absolved of all blame. Arabs Harass British in Egypt London, Feb. 22.--A German war of- fice statement received here tonight re- ports that rebel Arabs were captured from the British at three places on the western frontier of Egypn, name- ly, Sivas, Soltum, and Said Zerac. The appearance of the Arabs on this front is taken here as a renewal of the cam- paign of the Arab bands who, about two months ago, took the important seaport of aMrsa Macruh, 150 miles west of Alexandria, but who were later thrown back over the frontier by the British. utiny Distprbs Austrians in Albania I Rome, Feb. 22.-The Germans have I expelled the American Red.Cross mis- sion from Serbia. The Austrians have entrenched themselves at Kroia and are not advancing against Durazzo, partly as the result of a mutiny of. Hungarian and Bosnian regiments which was quelled by Maxim gun fire, and partly owing to lack of coopera- tion of the Albanians who refused to1 fight unless they were paid beforehand. ,._ I SHAKESPEAREAN FESTIVAL Whiteyh Theatre Feb. 23-24 Mat.
