THE MICHIGAN DAILY THE BEST DRESSED MEN s. have their clothes made-to-measure. It is not a fallacy to say that clothes reveal their origin even to the casual observer. And there's an air of dis- tinction to our clothes that can come only from years of experience in tai- loring garments. We have satisfied your friends, why not you? p G. H. Thompson THERE'S A TIME TO WORK. The long looked-forward-to fourteen days of Christmas vacation now seem as far behind as they seemed ahead at the close of the last football season. We built high hopes on the prospects of those fourteen days, some of which we saw come true, and some of which we never transmuted from dreams to realities. But there is probably none so utterly blas as will say that he didn't have a g 4 time. Parties, home meals, late breakfasts all combined to smother the memories of everyday life in Ann Arbor, until the train stop- ped yesterday and jarred us out into reality again. The difference between pre-vacation and post-vacation Ann Arbor was ap- parent at once. That is the sign of a successful vacation. The adjustment will take a day or two, before things will again begin to look normal. It is not forever that an undergraduate can dedicate his life to the footloose ex- istence of the cafeteria fed. Hie may not have the appreciated home cook- ing, but he can smoke cigarettes after the soup course without acquiring the taint of ultra-Bohemianism. Thus the pleasures of vacation and term time are about equally divided. The old joys of undergraduate life that we have heard so much about have been robbed of much of their spice by faculty rulings and boosted standards. Still, even, college is not all drudgery, at least so long as we can persuade ourselves to forget the coming finals. [NTERTAINENT PLASES MASTER OF STATE GRANGE SENDS THANKS TO UNIVERSITY AND CITY AUTHORITIES. Editor, The Michigan Daily: trough the columns of your paper I desire to express the deep apprecia- tion of the officers, delegates and visi- tors to the recent session of the Mich- igan State Grange for the many fine courtesies extended us by both city and university during our visit in Ann Ar- bor. Every detail that could possibly take our sojourn in the city more pleasant was carefully looked after, and the many fine entertainment fea- tures provided were greatly enjoyed by our members Nothing but kind words have been heard for the cor- diality of our welcome and the royal manner in which we were cared for all during our stay. Coupling the fine spirit shown by both, city and I university with the untiring zeal of Washtenaw Pomona -and subordinate Granges, made the glowing promises given before the meeting sure of ful- fillment. Our members have gone back to their homes with recollections that are most pleasant, and with a well seated conviction that Ann Arbor is a convention city of first rank. John C. UNDERCLASS SCRAP ABOLISHED AT UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS Champaign, Ill., Jan. 5.-The class scrap between sophomores and fresh- men has becrn abolished at the Univer- sity of Illinois. Begun by the stu- dents almost forty-five years ago, it was finally recognized by the Univer- sity and put under supervision to pre- vent any increase in the number of injuries. The form of the scrap was changed several times, passing from the unorganized stage 'through color rushes and push ball contests. Per- manent injuries to two students in the rush last fall as well as evident lack of interest, led to its abolishment. Women's Organizations Detroit Doctor Joins Health Service. Dr. Elsie Pratt, of the University Health Service, will be assisted dur- ing the remainder of the year by Dr. Boland, of Detroit. An increase of the number of patients treated at the health ser vice necessitated additions to the staff of workers. We print Anything, from your Name on a Card, to a Book. The Ann Arbor Press.
