A COM1ITTEE OF TWO THOUSAND
Headed by men who give the best
that is in them to the University,
press agented from ocean to ocean,
and linked with the name of JAMES
BURRELL ANGELL, the Union cam-
paign has thorpughly awakened the
slumbering Woiverine alumni. Ens-
thusiasm is rampant. An able edi-
torial appearing in Collier's Weekly
contained the following prophetic sen-
tence:
"What 2,000 Michigan men go after
they get."
The campaign in itself is a colossal
achievement, but greater even than
this is the promise it holds for the
future. Thirty-five thousand Michi-
gan men have found their own
strength. This condition was fore-
casted by the clear-sighted men who
first conceived the Union, but to the
majority it comes as a revelation.
Foreseen or revealed, however, the
fact still remains that the impact of
2,000 wills working in harmony is too
heavy to be denied.
BY THEIR DEEDS
Two brilliant names have been
erased from the roll of Michigan's
faculties with a suddenness and com-
pleteness that seems hardly conceiv-
able. Michigan's lustre is kept bright
by the men attached to her. Their
success is her success. The deeds that
do them credit do her credit in a like
degree. That is why we so profoundly
feel the loss of MARTIN LUTHER
D'OOGE and KARL EUGEN GUTHE.
CONCERNING A POLICY
From coast to coast the 'various
college papers, and even many of the
metropolitan sheets, have devoted ed-
itorial space and energy to the uses
and misuses of the Freshman. This
year we are seeking to be different.
We are not out to toot our own horn,
but because we can outline our own
policy by saying a word to the
Freshmen this editorial is written.
If you can give the best that is in
you to the University; if you put
University above clique, class and
fraternity; if you keep her name clean
and her record bright we are with
you, otherwise
"In a hurry?" Call Stark, 2255.

Michigan Sends Delegates to Vassar
Vassar College will celebrate its fif-
tieth anniversary this week by a con-
ference of representatives from every
university in the United States. Mich-
igan will be represented by Helen
Humphreys, '16, president of the Wo-
men's League. During the three days
of the conference an attempt will be
made to raise a million dollars.
FOLLOWING THE YOST MEN
With "Pat" Smith and Maulbetsch
battering away at the line, some of
Michigan's worthy opponents are go-
ing to believe that old Gen. Sherman
misspoke and really had football in
mind when he gave his since famous
definition of war.
