GEMS AND PRECIOUS STONES WILL BE SUBJECT OF COURSE To make the general culture courses in the university more com- plete, arrangements are being made for a study of gems and precious stones to be given next semester. The course will be given under the direc- tion of Prof. E. H. Kraus, of the min- eralogy department, and will be open to all students, regardless of scien- tific preparation. Two hours' credit will be given and the course will con- sist mainly of lectures and demonstra- tions. INDUSTRIAL FELLOWSHIPS ARE AWARDED CHEMICAL ENGINEERS Four industrial fellowships in chem- ical engineering have been awarded for the year 1915-191. The fellow- ships in gas eIgineering, contributed by the Michigan Gas association, are to be held by B. A. Standerline, '15E, and John T. Naylon, '15E. The fel- lowship maintained by the Acme White Lead & Color works is held by Ralph E. Christman, M. S., and a new fellowship, the gift of the Michigan Paper Manufacturers' Association, is held by Franklin E. Ford, '15E.
