tmake trips themselves or send repre-
I sentatives out among the more weal-
Ithy of the Michigan graduates in an
iattempt to secure more large subscrip-
ttions to the Union fund. This club is
made up of men who have subscribed
$50 to the building fund, and already
tthe membership of the informal organ-
iization is hovering about the 20 mal-k.
President Harry B. Hutchins has
promised to devote considerable time
sto the Union ;project during the coming
month, a trip to Cleveland being the
first of the apt-of-town trips to be
taken. lDean Henry M. Bates, of the
tlaw school, will go to Minneapolis, St.
Paul, Duluth and Milwaukee this week
in an effort to secure some prospective
Ssubscriptions in those cities. lrcsi-
dent Hutchins, Dean Bates and Dean
Effinger assistod inaterially in the Oc-
tober campaign, and their help has
been of great aid, especially anio ig
the more influential alumni, where of-
:ficials of the university command more
than unknowvn Union solicitors mi lit
b& Igiven.
The work of the next month will
be divided into three branches. The
slocal committeemen will attempt to
complete their canvass of all aluinni
in the United States, the "One in One
Hundred Club" will conduct anl ener-
getic campaign, and the university
representatives and other influential
alumni will make a determined effort
to secure the large subscriptions that
are needed to bring up the Union total
to the million-dollar mark.
State Department Repairs Steamship
Washington, Nov. 1.--The state de-
partment has consented to repairs and
alterations to be made on the Kron-
Prinz Wilhelm, which is interned at
Norfolk. The vessel will be changed
into a passenger and freight vessel, as
she was before the war. After the ren-
ovation of the Wilhelm the Prince
Eitel will probably undergo similar
alterations.
Prosperity in United States, Say Banks
Washington, Nov. L.-A swelling tide
of prosperity is sweeping over the
country, according to reserve agents
of the 12 Federal Reserve banks in
their report today. The report says
that there is a general buoyancy in
all business circles to overcome the
stock "bust."
