SURPRISES_300 ALUMNI
Drops in on Chicagoans Assembled to
Further Union Campaign; Gets
Warm Reception
Chicago, Oct. 28.-President Harry
B. Hutchins, of the University of Mich-
igan, pleasantly surprised 300 Michi-
gan alumni when he entered suddenly
upon them as they were meeting yes-
terday for their daily luncheon at the
Morrison hotel to put the final touches
on the campaign for the big demo-
cratic club house at Ann Arbor.
"Don't bother yourselves," said the
president as he motioned for them to
take their seats again. "I just dropped
off between trains to see what you
were doing and to bring you the latest
news from the west, including Kansas
City, St. Louis and places farther
away. The campaign is making won-
derful headway in all sections. I have
no doubt that the $1,000,000 will be
raised-if Chicago completes its share
as well as it has started."
President Hutchins hurried away
immediately after the luncheon to help
President Tinsman of the local asso-
ciation and W. D. McKenzie present
the Union proposition to a prospective
$5,000 contributor. The local alumni
will wind up the campaign Saturday
evening with a smoker and a vaude-
ville show.

WIlRE MARKET1 IS CONGESTED
Manufacturers Swamped Under Orders
Taxing Capacity of Mills
New York, Oct. 28.-American man-
ufacturers of wire and wire products
have refused within the last few weeks
foreign orders amounting to tens of
thousands of tons, although the prices
offered were several dollars per ton
in excess of quotations prevailing in
home markets. The orders were for
wire rods, plain and barbed wire,
woven fence and nails.
Nothing could better illustrate thel
congested situation in the wire market
than this does. Never before has suchE
a universal demand for American wire
been known. Australia, South Amer-
ica, Europe and other parts of the
world are all depending on this coun-
try for their wire needs, and the ca-
pacity of domestic mills is inadequate<
to supply the present rush of business.,
England Ships Gold for Munitionst
London, Oct. 28.-The Bank of Eng-1
land today announced shipments of
$6,225,000 and $500,000 in sovereignst
to the United States and Japan, re-a
spectively. The money Is in paymentt

HowTo"Roll Your Own"
It's a simple, easy process. You can
do it with your eyes shut after a little
practice. And what a joy is the fresh,
fragrant cigarette of "Bull" Durham
rolled by your own hand to your own
liking! You "roll your own" with "Bull"
and note the difference.

SMOKING TOBACCO
All over the world men of energy
and action are rolling "Bull" into ciga-
rettes. Probably not one of these mil-
lions of men "rolled his own" success-
fully at the first trial. There's a knack
in it -"rolling your own" is an art-
but you can learn it if you will follow
these diagrams. Keep at it for a few
days and you'll soon be able to make
for yourself, to suit your own taste, the
smartest, liveliest, mildest smoke in
the world.
"Bull" Durham, made of "bright" Virginia-
North Carolina leaf, has a mellow-sweetness
that is unique and an aroma that is unusu-
ally pleasing.
