OUTLINEI PLANS FOR
_I)D1ITION rTO PRESENT
FNIVERSITY GYMNASIN
(Continued from Page One)
will be added to the equipment and
the old wooden lockers discarded. At
present there are but 1,800 lockers.
The locker-room will be so ventilated
that all odors will be removed through
a central pipe.
The number of shower baths will
be raised, from 24 to 80, and the ven-
tilating so arranged that the steam
will be drawn off immediately.
A novel feature will be introduced
in the manner of clearing the gym-
nasium floor after practice or classes.
Brass sliding poles such as are used
in fire departments will connect the
locker-rooms with the gymnasium
floor, and by their use it is figured
that the floor may be cleared in half
the time taken in the past.
The entire basement will be floored
with white tile and sided with the
same material. The ceiling will be
concrete, painted white. In addition
to the lockers, showers and pool, four
hand-ball courts will be added.
The second floor addition will con-
tain the offices of the director, those
of th officers of the athletic associa-
tion, of the coaches and the health
service. A box office for the sale of
tickets for athletic contests and rooms
for wrestling, boxing, fencing and like
sports will occupy the second floor
as well. Next to these rooms will be
the offices of the intramural director
and the lecture rooms.
ARREST TWO UPON CHARGE OF
ST EALING PARKED AUTOMOBILE
Officer Ryan yesterday afternoon
arrested G. D. Humble and M. W.
Murray, both of Lansing, on a charge
of stealing an automobile belonging
to Robert Isbell, a prominent elevator
man of Jackson. The car was stolen
last Monday evening after it had been
parked in front of a theater by its
owner in that city.
Mr. Isbell drove over to the foot-
ball game in another machine yester-
day, and while parking his car in
State street, near Ferry field, noticed
an automobile which on further ex-
amination proved to be the stolen ma-
chine. He notified the police depart-
ment of this city, and the arrest of
the two men followed as they came
for the machine after the game.
The prisoners were taken to jail
and Murray was released after he had
proved his innocence. The officers at
Lansing were notified and it was as-
certained that Humble is an ex-con-
vict with a criminal record.

HOPE TO START TRYOUTS FOR
C(O)MEDY CLUB PLAY THIS WEEK
Work on the selection of the cast
for the comedy "Stop Thief" that is
to be presented by the Comedy club
as its annual production at some time
before Christmas vacation, will be
commenced this week, according to
President J. S. Switzer, '16, who has
been forced to delay tryouts for the
cast due to the failure of the manu-
script of the play to arrive from New
York.
From the nature of the presenta-
tion, which is a farce of the lightest
and most modern kind, unusually high
ability will have to be shown by the
tryouts in order to insure the success
of the play. It is thought, however,
that, in view of the fact that the new
members in this year's club have
shown themselves to be an exception-
ally capable lot, there will be little
difficulty in selecting a cast that
measures up to the required stand-
ards.

The students of the Pennsylvania,
State college tried to "put one over"
on the railroads, but theycouldn't do
it according to a story now going the
rounds of the press. It seems that
so great was the loyalty of the fol-
lowers of the Blue and White that
they determined to support the team
at every game played this season,
whether at home or abroad. But time
passed and the Harvard game drew
on apace. They must see that game.
Ay, but how?
Thirty-five dollars was the price de-
manded by the railroads to transport

by-law or other human beings were
forbidden to ride as live stock; more-
over, that, althoughsthe students were
undoubtedly game, still they could not
be classed as such for purposes of
transportation, and furthermore that
the proposed live stock would, it was
feared, turn out to be too live stock,
for the safety of the containing cars,
in the event victory rested with the
Blue and White.
Then and therefore, all things con-
sidered, the ingenuity of the student
body is to go for naught, unless it
can devise some way to raise the re-
quired number of iron men to carry
