In re- gard to the number of students from the different colleges of the univer- sity, the literary school leads with 315 men who have applied for work, the engineering school is second with 201 applications, while the homeo- pathic school is last with only 7 ap- plicants. From carefully prepared statistics Lovejoy has calculated the =living ex- penuses of a student in the various col- leg es of the university. These figures show the minimum expense of a stu- dent at Michigan for one year is $282, while a liberal calculation puts the amount at $691. Taking the average of these two amounts, it is seen that the ordinary student at Michigan spends about $461 each year while he is in school. The amount expended for clothes ranges from $25 a year as the minimum up to $100 per annum as the maximum amount spent by each student. Incidentals range from $15 to $150.
