Leathers Two city officials, City Clerk Ross Granger and Treasurer George Sweet, resigned at the council meeting held Monday night. Deputy Clerk Isaac Reynolds and Charles Miller were ap- pointed by Mayor Wurster to suc- ceed them. The Eastern 3icli~gan Edison corn- pany last night donated $5,000 toward the building of a new concrete high- way bridge across the Huron on Broad- way street. The plans for the bridge are now almost finished and the work will soon begin. Addressing the common council last night on the question of tuberculosis' and health, Dr. William DeKleine, head of the state anti-tuberculosis cam- paign, declared that Ann Arbor should appropriate more money each year' for health purposes. The doctor as- serted that $1,000 should be voted at once to defray the expenses of an ad- ditional visiting nurse for this city. Mr. DeKleine also urged a full time health officer. A committee of the council was ap. pointed to arrange for band concerts to be given during the summer months. Charles F. Meyer, of this city, has requested that the city of Ann Arbor pay him $28.35 as reimbursement for damages 'which were done to his car' when it became mired on State street; March 30. Meyer bases his claim on the fact that the street in question was supposed to be in good condition and fit for travel. Philip Phillips committed suicide by hanging himself with a belt in the county jail at St. Clair, Mich. He had been arrested for robbing the home of George Moore in St. Clair. He was the adopted son of Dr. Jeanne Solis of this city. The county board of auditors yes- terday completed their monthly audit.
