FROSH WIN INTERCIASS MEET; POORATTENDANCE Rain 11akes Track Heavy; Stowi Time in Running Events; :Kruiger, 118, Takes 16 Points Rain and the absence of thrills and spectators were the predominant fea- tures of Saturday's track meet which the class of 1919 won by amassing a total of 54 points. The sophomores were a close second with a total of 52 points to their credit, while the junior and senior teams finished a poor third and fourth respectively with scores of 15 and 3. The rain early Saturday morning put the entire field in extremely bad condition for the meet. As a result of the heavy field all, the running events were made in slow time. , In three of the field events noteworthy results were accomplished, Ehinger, '19, taking the broad jump with a leap of 20 feet 1 inch, Hawkes, '17, hurling the discus 110 feet, and Good- rich, '19, heaving the shot out 34 feet 4 inches. From the, standpoint of point win- ners, there were three stars in the meet. Kruger, '18, gathered in 16 of the 52 points won by his class, making him the 'highest individual point win- ner of the meet. Keskey, '19, won 13 points for his class ,while Bauer, '18, secured a score of 9 points. Numerals will be awarded to the men who secured first places in the meet. M. C. A. racquet wielders in an extra-period contest. The final score was 4 to 3, with the yearlings on the heavy end. The Wolverines gained an early ad- vantage, by winning three out of four matches- in the singles but the Fur- niture City aggregation .evened up the count by copping the other singles match and sweeping the boards in the doubles. In order that the tie' might be broken, the captains' of the two teams agreed to play another doubles match and in the play-off the year- lings won out, after dropping the first set.
