"From Morning Till Ni hi FewerCigarettes, but the Best" I I I I i Saturday against Leland Stanford Jr., the diminutive westerner was counted upon by the sharps to be a prominent factor in his event in the finals. Coach Farrell is now expected to send one or both of his half milers into the mile in the hope of adding something to the total of the Ann Ar- bor school. If he does this, there is more than a possibility that he will run Donnelly in the two-mile with Meehan. This decision will give the Wolverines Ufer, Murphy and Carroll in the mile distance, and two competi- tors in the longest run of the day. By following out this program the Wol- verine leader might be able to pick up a couple of extra points. Cornell's showing this afternoon was of such a calibre that other schools seem to be practically out of the run- ning, unless the far western teams, Leland Stanford and California, can cut off enough of the Big Red team's points in the hurdles and the high jump to help Yale into first place. This chance is small indeed. Conservative writers are giving Cor- nell more points than the Ithaca school obtained last year, when they gathered 45 counters with but one first place. Some men around the ho- tels are declaring that Cornell will carry away as much as G0 points. 1 Yale seems to have the best chance of finishing next to Cornell, with Penn- sylvania finishing third. Michigan is ranked as third by many while others are assigning them fourth and fifth places in the total standings. JUNIOR ENGINEERS AND LITS TAKE GAMES IN CLASS TILTS The jnnior engineers moved one step nearer the head of the percentage col- umn in the interclass baseball league by defeating the seniors of the same college yesterday to the tune of 14 to 2. As the score indicates the game was very one-sided, the, winners col- lecting seven tallies in the first frame' and scoring in all of the other periods played. Features of the game were a long circuit clout by "Lefty" Thomas, of the juniors, with two men on the sacks, and a spectacular diving catch by Gardner of the same team when he speared a scorching liner from Malt- by's bat which was ticketed for at least three bases. In a game closely played up to the very last round the junior lits took the measure of the seniors, of that department by the score of 7 to 1. Codd for the juniors pitched a good game, holding his opponents to four hits. Fraser held him up in his usual dependable style. Manager Trost of' the winners was the heavy hitter for the day, getting three bingles out of four trips to the plate. Fields proved the big star in th% senior defense, be= ing especially effective on the bases. Lyndon's for kodaks, films, finish. Wigs Open Sundays, 0:80 to 4:30 only. 719 N. University. "Ivan Petrosky Skivar," "Old Man Noah," and "Old Rameses," are some of the features of the new song book called "College Ballads," edited by S. W. Robinson, '16, which will be on sale today at the fraternity and so- rority houses, Wahr's book store, the women's dormitories, and the Arcadia. The volume is well arranged, com- prising only those songs that are dear to the hearts of students. It is. divided into five parts, containing Sto- ries of Life, Darky Songs, Old Testa- ment Tales, - Dinner 'and Drinking: Songs, and Ukalele Verses. These are not set to music, but are assigned to melodies that are popular and well known on the campus. The songs have been collected from several uni- versities,- though most of them have come from Michigan. Because of the controversy concern- ing the copyrights of some of the songs in the Senior Engineering Song Book, that arose a few days ago be- tween the senior engineering class, Mrs. M .M. Root of the University music store, and the Hinds, Noble and Edridge company, Mr. Robinson has been extremely careful in the prep- eration of his new song book. He stated emphatically that the "College Ballads" did not contain any of Mrs. Root's songs. College Ballads' On Sale Today I New Melody Itook Edited by 'S.
