GARGOYLE, IN FIRST NUMBER AlIS ITS WIT AT "II A'V'n1) Replete with ingenious witticism, the "On to Ha'v'd" number of the Gargoyle will make its appearance Saturday morning. Arrangements have been made to have copies of the first num- ber of the humor magazine sold on the trains'that will carrk the students to Lansing. As the title suggests, the issue will be concentrated against "Fair Har- vard," and the editors promise an abundance of clever comedy. The fea- ture of the number is a burlesque, "Gluntz of Ha'v'd," which is brimfull of sarcasm, directed against the east- ern university. Pianos to rent. Good dependable in- struments at lowest rates. Moore gave the first "Twilight" Organ recital of the season yesterday afternoon at Hill auditorium. Ev- ery number on the program was beau- tifully rendered, and received enthu- siastic applause, but the last selection, "Fiat Lux," by Dubois, was the piece that brought out the full charm of the player's ability. It was a beautiful ending to a splendid program. Edward McNamara. That Edward McNamara, student in the University School of Music last year, has started out well on his career as a singer, is shown in an article which appeared in a late number of the Rockford, Ill. Star. The Star's comment is as follows: "A pleasant surprise was given the audience in the young baritone, Mr. Edward McNamara, who is accompa- nying Madame Schumann-Heink this season, for no one recognized in the assisting artist the young policeman whose voice attracted the artist's at- tention last year in Patterson, N. J. "But this is the new voice that Schumann-Heink discovered and who was persuaded to give up his 'beat' for vocal study. and the concert stage. Mr. McNamara is hailed as the coming Irish singer that will be in the field of' the baritone singers what McCormick is as a tenor, as interpreter of Irish songs."
