And, most wonderful of all, he did it. When he finished, he was surprised to find out how much he had discovered. He had a fund of general knowledge, some of which was merely useful for conversational purposes during the rest of his course, but a large part of which was instructive. Now, after four years, this man admits that the museum was one of the most interesting places he visited. You, who are persevering enough to read the second paragraph of an edi- torial on a spring day, may have gone through the museum. But the ordinary Michigan student has not. Probably you have not either. It is just possi- ble that you do not even know that the museum is that modest little building between University hall and Alumni Memorial hall. It is full of unheard- of stuff. Even at this time of stress and strain, when normal men have at least three engagements in an after- noon, it would pay you to take a half- hour off to-visit it. With the Cornell game, the Syracuse meet and the introduction of straw hats tomorrow, who will worry about the D. U. R. strike? Get that straw cleaned today. Or spend a two-spot. Upon arriving they will be entertained by Toledo alumnae with an automo- bile trip about the city, an hour at the Art Museum, and lunch at the Wom- en's Building. The return trip will be made late in the afternoon. Women making the trip are remind- ed that they are not to purchase tick- ets, but are to obtain them at the sta- tion from Helen Humphries, '16. If it is impossible to take the early train, they are to take the 11:15 and go di- rectly to the Women's building upon arriving in Toledo. Sophomore women are in charge of this year's all-campus dance to be held from 3:00 until 6:30 o'clock this afternoon in Barbour gymnasium. The 400 tickets at 25 cents each are selling rapidly to students in all classes of all the colleges and schools of the uni- versity. Men and women will, accord- ing to custom, come singly. Prof. Jesse S. Reeves, of the political science department, and Mrs. Reeves, and Dr. Charles W. Edmunds, of the Medical School, and Mrs. Edmunds, will chap- erone. PRAISES TRANSLATIONS MADE BY TWO -MICHIGAN PROFESSORS The Boston Transcript in a recent nine column article on the Russian dramatist, Andreyef, has this to say about the translation of his plays made by Profs. C. L. Meader and F. N. Scott of the University of Michigan: "The Scribner edition of the plays deserves a special word. Format and binding are comfortable and attract- ive. The translations are in vivid and idiomatic English. Further, there is a biography and an appreciative essay of remarkable insight and interest, in addition to a bibliography of nineteen pages. The volume contains all the ''background' material which is nec- essary to an understanding and en- joyment of the plays. It is a model of what such volumes should be, and must set a standard for all future edi- tions of foreign plays." Pianos A. B. Chase Becker Brothers Norris & Hyde Merrill r .
